About Me
I'm an "Assistant Professor" at the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Barishal, as well as a "Student Advisor" at the department. I am also the "Faculty Advisor" of the student chapter of SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists), EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers), and YouthMapper at the University of Barishal.
At Barishal, I have taught GMT 101-Mineralogy, GMT 202-Principles of Stratigraphy, GMT 302-Sedimentology, GMT 304-Economic Geology, GMT 313-Paleontology and Palynology, GMT 405-Applied Petroleum Geology, GMT 409- Seismology and Geohazards and GMT 504- Advance Petroleum Engineering and Province Analyses. Most of my lab courses focus on Subsurface Petroleum, Remote Sensing & GIS, Sedimentological, and Paleontology related.

Turning trash into treasure by introducing compost plant in Barishal University campus

Waste can be reusable by turning them into compost! The University of Barishal Geophysical Society has got the chance to make it possible.
"Turning trash into treasure by introducing compost plant in Barishal University campus" titled project inauguration ceremony was held on 2nd November, 2023. At the opposite of Botanical Garden, University of Barishal. Professor Dr. Md. Sadequl Arefin, Vice-Chancellor, of the University of Barishal was the chief guest. He inaugurated the project by cutting the fillet and filling a hole with a shovel. He encouraged us to do this very well. Md. Abdullah Salman, Assistant Professor, Dept. Geology and Mining chaired the program. On that program, Shukhen Goswami, Chairman & Assistant Professor, Dept. Geology and Mining, Dr. Dhiman Kumer Roy, Associate Professor, Dept. of Geology and Mining, Mohammad Risalat Rafique, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Geology and Mining, Md. Ujjal Hossain, Chairman & Assistant Professor, Dept of Botany was presented. This project is conducted by UBGS and funded by ICCAD.

Happy to share that I have received the "Vice-Chancellor's Award-2023" for extraordinary research contribution in the Faculty of Science and Engineering for the period of January 2022 to September 2023.
Congratulations to the other two awardees of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Dr. Md Manjur Ahmed Sir & Dr. Dhiman Kumer Roy Sir. It's a great honor for me to share a stage with you as a researcher.

University of Barishal EAGE Student Chapter Conducts Fieldwork at Kuakata Seabeach, Barishal 🏖️🌎
On October 17, 2023, the University of Barishal EAGE Student Chapter organized a one-day environmental fieldwork event at Kuakata Seabeach, Barishal. More than 30 participants, including student chapter executives and 10 members were selected based on their research proposals of the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Barishal conducted the fieldwork. 🧑🏫👨🎓👩🎓
During the fieldwork, students had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the following areas:
-> Identifying environmental problems at Kuakata Beach 🔍📝
-> Developing solutions to these problems 💡⚒️
-> Preventing beach pollution 🌊🚫
-> Managing beach waste 🗑️♻️
-> Conducting sedimentological analysis for tidal influence using the boring method with hand auger across the coastline at a depth variance of 30 to 50 cm 🧪🔬
The fieldwork was a valuable learning experience for the students, providing them with a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges facing Kuakata Beach and the potential solutions to these challenges. 🌊🐠🐡
